PEI Potato Museum

The PEI Potato Museum, located in O'Leary in western Prince Edward Island, is the only museum of its kind in the world. Surrounded by potato fields, the building is a perfect fit for the pastoral landscape. This unique spot celebrates PEI's famous potato. Grown in the island's rich red soil, PEI potatoes are popular with consumers and profitable for Prince Edward Island farmers.

Although since the potato industry has passed through generations, Islanders are more concerned with pride in their product than any profits. Yet the province's potatoes account for one third of Canada's total production. With a Potato History Exhibit, Machinery Gallery, Potato Hall of Fame, The Amazing Potato Exhibit, and Community Museum, Prince Edward Islanders honor the potato.

Learn everything about potatoes at the interpretive centre. Discover the origin of the potato, the reason for its worldwide appeal, and how the industry experienced growth on the island.
