Whitewater kayaking and rafting in Nepal
If you're thinking of Nepal, rafting and kayaking is not the first things that come to mind, and at least it was not for me. Probable photos of Kathmandu, rice fields, Mount Everest and the Himalayas mysterious pop in my head. So you can imagine my surprise when I arrived in Nepal and the end of the rafting and kayaking in more than 10 times!
Upon arrival in Pokhara or Thamel (the main tourist area in Nepal), there are travel agents all over the place, and IRafting was immediately decided that it had something to do during my time in Nepal. The first decision to be made to the river to go. Nepal has many of the largest rivers of the world, that of a gently flowing river, some of the wildest whitewater in the world. Then, depending on experience and a thirst for adrenaline, there is definitely something for everyone! The best time to go is between March to June or September-October, although tours will run throughout the year, the water is the highest, fastest and most exciting in recent months.
The choice of a company be difficult with a little 'if you go! There are many travel agencies line the streets, but the choice between the other is almost impossible ... They are almost the same price, almost exactly the same rides and promise the best time of your life! However, there are a lot of companies, is a disgrace to say that only after your money. It 'important to find a brandCompanies that have safety procedures. I ended up with Kayak Adventure GRG's. After a meeting Maila, the owner, a couple of times around Thamel I trust that would deliver what he promised, and after a little research I discovered that it is currently the best kayaking in Nepal, having just won the championship the Himalayas again, I thought I had made the right choice and would be in safe hands.
The journey to the river was amazing in itself. LeavingI am the valley through a more traditional way of life received. Women work hard in the rice fields in their saris, looking more glamorous than I ever achieve! The children carrying their books on his head walking down the street in the school; beautiful mountains in the background; Random Buffalo scattered throughout the scene just to name a few things that we saw during our trip to the River. After two hours looking out the window we are in a small village to get aligned hypnotized all yourRafting needs. It 'was a small shed (a little' as you can imagine that Mary and Joseph stumble upon!) Get to you in another, toilets, tea, biscuits, water, everything you need before a day on the river to start !
On arrival at the starting point, I realized it was the best decision to go with GRG's. They were lined up about 20 rafts and waiting to go with different companies and we were the only paddlers with safety. You can see where their logo GRG the "received SAFETY FIRST"out!
And that was Mail and the team started and suitable for all of us in life jackets, helmets, (depending on weather, splash jackets were available), and after a very informative speech on security, we went! Immediately greeted by our first rapid, appropriately, "Good Morning", the first as a splash in the face and wakes you up your T-shirt anyway!
Just go, I was excited about the thrill of the rapids and do not know what would have happened had his finger down nextexciting! The team of raft guides and safety kayakers we had were amazing with us, all we ask at ease, and at the first sight of shallow water, we all had to do backflips on the raft, games and swimming away in water. With safety kayakers always close at any moment, once did I feel threatened, they were very professional, but it looks funny at the same time as the kayaks and did extensive parts of his body. See how a person would not give in to the riverFirst (and I must say that after trying several times to kayak, I have more respect for the guys, when it is not the area where it is easy as it sounds!)
The Trisuli, the first river rafted in Nepal have been the best choice for a first timer. It gives you confidence in the river and the enthusiasm to tackle more difficult for something a bit '.
Working our way down the river could be heard cries of "all forward 'and' Back PADDLE 'fill the valley. If the water was flat, and we had to changetake in our environment suddenly, the landscape was simply breathtaking. There were eagles, monkeys, and the beautiful hills around us, the sky!
After one of the best days of my life, laughing, crying, held her life to the river, I had a good job. I was so surprised when we arrived at the beach, tents already set and the tea that awaits us. GRG's team had literally thought of everything. I do not know how they did, but the food wasthe best I've ever had, and I promise I am not exaggerating! And 'GRG was nice that each group came and sat with us to fire and joined the party, then we all camped out in rafts to the lathe and admired the stars, the Milky Way itself has honored us with his presence. (For the curtains were not available to stay open all night.)
He seemed really nice to see that all local products GRG to cook food, and only uses wood that had fallen, but usedthe purchase of timber from neighboring countries and therefore not encouraging deforestation. It 'was also nice to see that everything that came with us all the way back and was disposed of properly. They employ only local staff, and that is worth more than you could ever know. Knowing these guys is incredible that the river rose the river, they know their every step and every hole like a hand.
After a night of great sleep we left for the second daywhich was then a rush of adrenaline as the day before. And to prove the safety of kayakers away after a few of us emerged from the edge of the raft, when the "S curve" Rapid captured some of us unprepared! GRG were so professional, we are back in the raft and safely in seconds with minimal effort to maintain our confidence and makes us feel safe.
Unfortunately, the trip was over. We picked up lunch a bit 'more (more than enough to eat because foodIt was so good!) And jumped back on the bus.
After one of the best weekends of my life I was addicted, I ended up spending Christmas with my GRG kayak and learning to take trips more than I remember them for several rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking certainly made my trip to Nepal and would like anyone to leave that to give up, go there to push. If you need to save two days or two weeks, there's something for everyone. Just make a reliableCompany.
